DO Costers del Segre

DO Costers del Segre produces surprising wines of mediterranean character, with powerful bouquet, ripe fruit and balsamic aromas.

This DO covers a vast area in the north west of Catalonia (150 km from Barcelona) and is very diverse both in orography and climate. The common link being the mid section of the river Segre basin, between the Pyrenees and the river Ebre. The climate is dry, far from martime influence, and marked by very high insolation, scarce rainfall and persistent humidity of winter fogs.

The subregions of Artesa and Pallars Jussà have the highest vineyards and pyrenaic influence. Raimat, on the western side, has a smooth landscape and continental climate. Segrià is very flat and dry. Garrigues and Riucorb Valley are also very arid.
