DO Pla de Bages
The wine region of Pla de Bages has seen history pass its way. It is believed its name, Bages, was given by the romans to honor Bacus, the god of wine. It is a land that has been growing grapes since then. The landscape, the climate, the soil… all the necessary elements are combined perfectly in Pla de Bages to produce wines with a distinctive personality. Pla de Bages has a continental climate with high temperature contrast and scarce rain fall. Contrary to other regions, vineyards here are surrounded by Mediterranean forests which creates a very particular scenery.
Wine producers go from families that have been making wine for 800 years to cellars that are only 5 years old, from the oldest tradition to the newest innovations.
